My car,  one of my favorite places on the planet.  It has so much to offer me beyond the obvious shelter, transportation and often haulage.  Some of my best parenting or indeed interventions with my children’s peers is done in my car.  Creating a safe space with teenagers to engage with you is increasingly difficult with the digital deluge but the car even for two minute trips can be a ceased moment to listen to your teen.  The key is to listen, not to take the opportunity to dump or lecture but ask a question.  How was your day?  What’s happening with  X teacher?  X friend? girl? boy? what does bisexual mean? What does non binary mean? How did it make you feel?  (the response to which is next week’s blog lol!)
